Upper East Side and Astoria Democrats Support Quinn for Mayor of New York
The Lexington and Powhatan Democratic Clubs announced their support of City Council Speaker Christine Quinn for mayor today, citing her strong progressive history and her commitment to growing and advocating for New York City’s middle class
“I am so excited to have the support of the Lexington and Powhatan Democratic Clubs. These clubs are real strongholds of progressive politics in New York City,” said Quinn.
The Powhatan Democratic Club serves as a progressive voice in Queens.
“It is an honor to receive the support of the Powhatan Democratic Club. Queens is really the heart of New York City’s middle class. I look forward to collaborating with the Powhatan Democratic club moving forward to expand and strengthen Queens’ middle class, to bring new jobs into the borough, improve its economy, and to celebrate the unique and diverse culture that the borough offers,” Said Quinn.
“Speaker Quinn has been a great advocate for Queens. She has fought to strengthen our economy, and has expanded our middle class. She has stated plans to develop our borough’s infrastructure. I have no doubt Christine Quinn is the best choice for Queens residents, and that our borough will continue to flourish under her leadership as mayor,” said Queens District Leader Costa Constantinides.
“Christine Quinn really proved her willingness to look out for Queens after Hurricane Sandy. In the wake of that destruction, she has vowed to improve our borough’s infrastructure to protect it for the future. She has a deep understanding of Queens’ culture and diversity. I look forward to working with her in the future to make this borough even greater,” said Queens district leader AnneMarie Anzalone.
The Lexington Democratic Club has served as a progressive voice on Manhattan’s East Side since its founding in 1949.
“It is a privilege to have the support of the Lexington Democratic Club. Manhattan’s East Side is both a central residential and economic hub in New York City. I look forward to working with the Lexington Democratic Club to continue to serve East Siders as mayor,” said Quinn.
