Chris launches LGBT for Quinn
Christine Quinn launched ‘LGBT for Quinn’ today by unveiling a list of 1700 plus LGBT leaders and New Yorkers who are supporting her historic candidacy for mayor. The list of supporters includes everyone from Broadway and Film actors, to LGBT activists, and every day New Yorkers.
Marching in the New York City Gay Pride Parade with Quinn was a contingent of over 500 supporters, including Tim Gunn, Rob and Michelle Reiner, and Bruce Cohen. Quinn kicked off the day’s events with a joint appearance with supporters Edie Windsor and Robbie Kaplan, whose case before the United States Supreme Count resulted in the so-called Defense of Marriage Act being struck down as unconstitutional. Windsor, serving as Grand Marshall of the parade, reiterated her support for Christine Quinn and made it clear her next battle is ensuring she is elected.
“The support I have received from the LGBT community has been humbling and inspiring and I do not intend to let them down,” said Christine Quinn. “In this race I am the only candidate who has demonstrated the ability to lead this City and has a vision for middle class New Yorkers and those aspiring to enter it that is backed up by real results and members of the LGBT community know that.”
"Chris Quinn is the right choice for Mayor of New York City, not only because she will fight to make our city more affordable, but she will continue to be the tireless advocate for the LGBT community we need leading our city,” said film producer and co-founder of American Foundation for Equal Rights Bruce Cohen. “As a new New Yorker, I know Chris will ensure our city and country keep moving forward and I couldn't be prouder to supporter her for Mayor.”
Actor and television personality Tim Gunn said, “As the LGBT community continues to break barriers and make history, there is no better person qualified - and no other person I want - to continue this push forward than Chris Quinn. I know Chris will make the position of mayor the bully pulpit it needs to be to fight for all new Yorkers. "
