Actor George Takei Endorses Quinn: She Will Boldly Go Where No Woman Has Gone Before

Today, George Takei, the actor best known for his role as Hikaru Sulu on the television series Star Trek, has endorsed Christine Quinn for mayor. In endorsing Quinn, Takei, who is also a prominent gay rights activist, cited Quinn’s experience, toughness and compassion. He also cited her progressive values and record of delivering results for New Yorkers. Takei has starred in Star Trek in three seasons of the television series and in six films.

Upon endorsing, Takei stated that Quinn “has the experience, the toughness and the heart to take us into the future. And I should know a thing or two about the future. I worked there for three seasons and six movies.”

Takei added, “Whenever there are challenges, she brings them together. The vast network of her relationships combined with her amazing talent for problem solving and works out a solution. A progressive leader with an amazing record of achievements, Christine Quinn will take New York City to great heights.

Takei’s support is latest in a string of high-profile endorsements for Chris Quinn from celebrities and the LGBT community. These include television personality Tim Gunn, actors Neil Patrick Harris and Lena Dunham, feminist icon Gloria Steinem and singer and actress Audra McDonald.
