32BJ SEIU Endorses Chris for NYC Mayor!

32BJ SEIU, the 125,000 member building-services union, endorsed Chris for Mayor. 32BJ is widely recognized as one of the most progressive and politically powerful unions in New York City. They represent the hard-working men and women of the middle class, who are the foundation of our City and without whom our City couldn't survive.

Here are highlights from the announcement:

Héctor Figueroa, President of 32BJ, broke the news stating:

"The choice is clear...Speaker Quinn helped pass a prevailing wage bill for workers on subsidized developments and she has fought to build more affordable housing across the city.

She worked with us to reach an agreement that will give nearly 1 million New Yorkers paid sick leave, she has stood with airport workers demanding a fair, livable wage and meaningful benefits.

And year after year Speaker Quinn protected the school facilities budget from being cut in order to ensure our members have the tools they need to do their jobs effectively."

32BJ Executive Board Member Janet Barahona continued:

"We believe that as mayor she will continue to fight hard for working families in New York City. Quinn is a strong person and she has the potential to get things done."

Chris, in receiving the endorsement, said:

"The men and women of 32BJ are the backbone of New York City's middle class. They are the cleaners, security workers, and residential and commercial building workers who day in and day out work to make New York's quality of life the envy of the world.

I have said time and time again, that this campaign is about who has a vision for the middle class and those aspiring to enter it and who has an actual record of deliver for them and that's why I am honored to receive this endorsement."

Today's endorsement is the latest in Chris's broad and growing coalition of support for her campaign for Mayor.
